Around this time of year many people want to get back in shape, and while January is almost over, there is still plenty of time to get started on that beach body you dream about having come July. Here are some of the best workouts abs that you can do from the comfort of your own home and easily.

1) The Bicycle: Lie on the floor face up with your legs extended at an angle above the ground. With your hands behind your head, bend your left knee and touch the right elbow, turning inward. Return to the open position and alternate the movement with the opposing limbs, for upwards of sixteen reps. This exercise targets the rectus abdominus, or the six-pack, as well as the obliques, which might be why it is the most popular.

2) The Vertical Leg Crunch: This exercise is also effective in targeting the much-desired six-pack and the hard-to-tone obliques. Simply lie flat on your back and raise your feet vertically so they are perpendicular to your body and cross your feet. Use your abs to lift your head and shoulders off the floor, leading with your chest, as though trying to touch it to your feet. Again, you should do this for close to sixteen reps.

3) Reverse Crunch: This one is exactly like it sounds. Lie flat on your back with your palms on the ground too, as if you were going to do crunches. Instead of raising your upper body, bring your legs up and try to reach your feet to the ceiling. Bring them back down to the floor and repeat for a dozen or so reps.

As you can see, many of these exercises can be performed from the same position, so you can link your workouts abs exercises together to maximize overall effectiveness.
